Old Melbourne Gaol

I have an odd fascination with jails, and so I was very excited to visit Victoria's oldest prison, the Old Melbourne Gaol. The prison was open from 1841-1924 and featured harsh punishments and over 100 execution of convicts.

Here is one of the little cells the prisoners lived in. They were locked in here for 23 hours a day, in solitary confinement.

Convict or Dominic?

There were three stories lined with tiny cells in this area.
