You could say that they were "friends at first sight".
The day I brought home the storybook "Baby Beluga" from the library, our little Gabriel, who had never taken an interest in reading, was completely smitten. We read the story several times a day for the entire 3-week check-out period. Soon after, we received the "Baby Beluga" CD from my godmother for Christmas. It went straight to my car CD player, on repeat, for months.
What really sealed the deal was after our move, when we started unpacking a couple of toys boxes. There we found it: a stuffed white beluga whale that Dominic had picked out during a trip to Sea World a couple of years ago.
Gabriel attached to this small stuffed animal immediately, refusing to nap or sleep without cuddling his "Beluga".
For Gabriel's 2nd Birthday, we decided to forgo the big party (it honestly didn't seem doable for this nauseous momma!). Instead, we planned a day trip to Seaworld, to meet THE beluga whale, and create some family memories. We ended up having a terrific day!

Gabriel was so happy to meet the whales, and even serenaded to them the "Baby Beluga" song.
We also had a blast with all of the other exhibits and shows!
